Conversations About Conservation

Conversations about Conservation explore the vulnerable relationship we have with flora and fauna in our everyday environment. The sculptures in this body of work spark the conversation and how we can work together to restore our landscape through conservation efforts. By reflecting on our emotional connection with the natural world, we can empathize and consider protecting our natural land.

Fictional hybrids of flora and fauna, such as the combination of leaves and monarchs, are created to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable wildlife practices and environmental conservation. The beautiful yet upsetting reality of our environmental impact is depicted in each artwork. Ecological issues, such as habitat loss, are brought to our attention to help us to better understand the needs of our ecosystem.

The contrasting qualities of glass are both strong and delicate as well as reflective and transparent perfectly mirroring the variations found in nature. By reflecting on the interconnectedness, we have with the natural and built world we can start the conversation to support a healthier and harmonious environment for both us and the wildlife.
